Sport
á Maryanne Christoffersen presented a triple round
robin baseball schedule recommended by the coaches. After discussion Maryanne moved to accept the schedule. Motion failed for lack of second..
á The
main issues with the proposed schedule were:
1. Transportation
2.
Shared/ over lapping facilities
3.
Did not consider other spring sports that would be affected.
- Track
-- Bill Ewing indicated that the smaller schools in the section are trying
for sub sections by divisions.
At this time Bill does not think the concept will pass.
IV. Officials
Update
- Joan Mumaugh explained that the
officials association could be contacted via the MEL website. The scheduling of officials, game
changes or corrections and all necessary forms related to officiating can
be obtained using the California Officials Association link.
V. Foundation
Games
Joan Mumaugh reminded the schools that the
Foundation games are a no contact count competition for the purpose of raising
funds for the Dale Lackey scholarships.
With that in mind please control fan outbursts directed at the officials
as they are donating their time as well and are concerned with fan behavior.
VI. Football

Joan handed out a form
that is to be used for future football team camp participation
as required by Section
By-law 1903.2.
VII. Mandated Play Days
- Joan handed
out a section wide listing for the mandated play days for Volleyball,
Baseball and Softball for the 2004-2005 school year.
- A
major concern from the Athletic Directors is that volleyball is listed as
MWF and this could cause some major conflicts.
- Joan

that the league could choose not to use Friday nights as other leagues

be the MEL official playing days for volleyball.
